Thomas Tabbed Player of the Year as Volleyball Lands Three on All-MASCAC Teams

Framingham, Mass. – Sophomore outside hitter Brandee Thomas (North Kingstown, RI) has been selected the 2019 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Volleyball Player of the Year and the Rams placed three on the 2019 All-MASCAC Teams in voting conducted by the league's coaches and announced by the MASCAC office this morning.

Thomas repeats as a first team All-MASCAC selection and is joined by sophomore libero Alyssa Cafarelli (Peoria, AZ), while freshman middle hitter Hailey Sanders (Franklin, Mass.) was voted to the second team.

Thomas, the 2018 MASCAC Rookie of the Year, earns her first player of the year honor after leading the MASCAC in kills per set (3.42), total kills (304) and attempts (904). Thomas averaged 12.2 kills per match during the season and a .210 attack percentage.

Cafarelli was a second team selection a year ago after her rookie season. This season Cafarelli led the Rams and ranked second in the MASCAC in total digs (504) and digs per set (4.71). Cafarelli added 67 assists and 49 service aces on the year.

Sanders earns her first all-MASCAC honors after an outstanding rookie season.  Sanders led the MASCAC in attack percentage (.277) racking up 196 kills on 447 attempts with just 72 errors.  Sanders led the Rams and ranked second in the MASCAC in total blocks (68) with 20 solo blocks and 48 block assists.

The 2019 Rams finished the season 18-12 overall and 6-1 in the MASCAC. The Rams earned the second seed in the MASCAC Tournament and were defeated in the tournament finals by Westfield State.
