Volleyball Splits a Pair of Non-Conference Matches

Boston, Mass. – The Framingham State University volleyball team took to the road this afternoon for a pair of non-conference matches and were defeated 3-0 by Emerson College before defeating Bates College 3-1 at Brown Plofker Gym.

With the win and the loss, the Rams are now 22-7 on the season.

Junior Alycia Rackliffe (Feeding Hills, Mass.) paced the Rams in the opener against Emerson.  Rackliffe also picked up three blocks.  Junior Julia Wan (South Deerfield, Mass.) chipped in with four kills and 17 digs, while senior Danielle Girard (Tivoli, NY) added six kills and 18 digs.  Sophomore Sarah Leonard (Southborough, Mass.) recorded 17 set assists.

The Rams defeated Bates College by scores of 25-21, 17-25, 25-14 and 26-24.  Rackliffe led the Rams offensive effort with a match-best 17 kills on 50 attempts to go along with 13 digs and five blocks.  Wan picked 11 kills, 10 digs and five blocks in the game.  Girard had a solid game also recording double digit kills and assists with 12 and 13. Girard also added four service aces, while Leonard added 40 set assists and 15 digs.

The Rams are back in action on Tuesday evening with a non-conference match at Rivier beginning at 7 p.m.
