Volleyball Drops Five Set Decision to Rivier

Framingham, Mass. – The Rivier University volleyball team survived a fourth and fifth game surge by the host Framingham State University Rams to pick up a thrilling 3-2 victory (19-25, 25-15, 25-19, 20-25, 15-12) this evening in non-conference action at the Athletic Center.  

The Rams are now 20-11 on the season, while the Raiders improve to 22-6 on the year.

The Raiders received strong performances from sophomores Dana Mott (Medway, Mass.) and Lauren Silverman (Chelmsford, Mass.), who recorded 15 kills apiece.   Mott had a solid day defensively with 10 digs, while Silverman chipped in a pair of blocks.  Junior Emily O'Reilly (San Francisco, Calif.) filled the stat sheet with a match-high 43 assists, 19 digs and five kills, while sophomore Molly McCormack (Ballston Lake, NY) recorded a double double with 10 kills and 13 defensive digs.

The Rams were led by 10 kills, eight digs and a block from junior Annie DeLoid (Plymouth, Mass.).  Classmate Danielle Girard (Tivoli, NY) had a solid all-around game with nine kills and a match-best 22 digs.  Senior Courtney Wilbur (Braintree, Mass.) picked up 16 digs, while sophomore Julia Wan (South Deerfield, Mass.) racked up nine kills and nine digs with an ace.

The Rams are back in action on Saturday with the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Regular Season Title on the line when they travel to Westfield State University at 1 p.m., while Rivier hosts Eastern Nazarene on Thursday night at 7 p.m.
