Volleyball Downs Mass. Maritime in MASCAC Action

Framingham, Mass. – The Framingham State University volleyball team defeated the Massachusetts Maritime Academy Buccaneers 3-0 this evening in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action at the Athletic Center.   

Framingham State improves to 12-2 on the season and remains undefeated in conference action at 2-0, while the Buccaneers are now 0-12 and 0-1 in the MASCAC.

The Rams were led by junior Danielle Girard (Tivoli, NY) with nine kills and six digs, while sophomore Alycia Rackliffe (Feeding Hills, Mass.) and Julia Wan (South Deerfield, Mass.) chipped in with eight kills apiece.  Wan added seven digs and two aces to go along with her eight kills.  Freshman Jocelyn Wilbur (Braintree, Mass.) picked up a game-high four aces.

Senior Meghan Weir (North Andover, Mass.) led the Buccaneers with three kills, while sophomore Melissa Harris (Scituate, Mass.) chipped in with two.  Senior Deb Langley (Abington, Mass.) led the defensive effort with eight digs, while freshman Becca Mello (Acushnet, Mass.) added five and sophomore Emma Ethier (Norton, Mass.) dished out five assists.

The Rams are back in action on Saturday with a non-conference tri-match at Connecticut College with Tufts beginning at 2 p.m., while Buccaneers host MASCAC foe Bridgewater State on October 1st at 7 p.m.
