Volleyball Sweeps Tri-Match with Simmons and Regis

Boston, Mass. – The Framingham State University volleyball team extended their current winning streak to five matches after defeating both Regis College and Simmons College 3-0 this afternoon in a non-conference tri-match hosted by the Sharks.

The Rams (10-2) defeated Regis in their first match of the day by scores of 25-20, 25-16 and 25-23.  Junior Annie DeLoid (Plymouth, Mass.) led the Rams attack with 10 kills, while sophomores Julia Wan (South Deerfield, Mass.) and Alexandra Coppola (Dracut, Mass.) chipped in nine apiece.  Wan filled the stat sheet with a team-best five aces and 15 digs.  Seniors Maribeth Martin (Barnstable, Mass.) and Morgan Drew (South Easton, Mass.) combined for 28 set assists.

In the final match of the day, the Rams topped the Sharks 25-17, 25-18 and 25-17.  Wan once again had a strong game with nine kills, two aces and three digs, while junior Danielle Girard (Tivoli, NY) chipped in with eight kills and 11 digs.  Senior Courtney Wilbur (Braintree, Mass.) led the back row play with 12 digs, while Martin dished out 11 assists and Drew had 10.

The Rams are back in action on Tuesday evening when they host Salve Regina University at 7 p.m.
