Volleyball Downs Elms in Straight Sets

Framingham, Mass. – The Framingham State University volleyball team defeated Elms College in straight sets this evening by scores of 25-13, 25-9, and 25-13 in non-conference women's volleyball action at Framingham's Athletic Center.   

The Rams extend their current winning streak to seven games as they improve to 19-4 on the year, while the Blazers fall to 5-17.

The Rams were led by a match-best eight kills, six aces, and 13 digs from freshman Julia Wan (South Deerfield, Mass.).  Junior Maribieth Martin (Barnstable, Mass.) chipped in with 13 assists, while classmate Morgan Drew (North Easton, Mass.) added six.  Senior Andressa Fernandes (Framingham, Mass.) and sophomore Annie DeLoid (Plymouth, Mass.) contributed six kills apiece for the Rams.

The Blazers received four kills and five digs from junior JC Pickett (Chicopee, Mass.), while freshman Carolyn Campbell (Millers Falls, Mass.) chipped in with three.  Junior Caitlyn Larvey (Greenfield, Mass.) was solid in the back row with a match-high 16 digs, while sophomore Shannon Bolton (Shelton, Conn.) chipped in nine set assists.

The Rams return to action on Saturday afternoon when they entertain WPI and Worcester State in a tri-match beginning at 11 a.m., while the Blazers host Bay Path on Saturday at 12 p.m.
