Chicopee, Mass. – Sophomore Ashley Nee (Hanson, Mass.) racked up a match-best 17 kills to lead the Framingham State University volleyball team to a 3-0 victory over Elms College this evening in non-conference action at Picknelly Arena.

Elms College sophomore libero Caitlyn Larvey (Greenfield, Mass.) registered a team-high eight digs and freshman setter Shannon Bolton (Shelton, Conn.) dished out eight assists.

With the victory the Rams improve to 11-3 on the year, while the Blazers fall to 0-10.

With Framingham State leading 2-0 in the contest, the sides battled to six lead changes and a 19-19 score before a pair of Rams' errors allowed Elms to take a 21-19 lead in the third frame. A second consecutive attacking error by Framingham State allowed the Blazers to stake a 22-19 edge.

After Andressa Fernandes (Framingham, Mass.) and Elms' sophomore middle hitter JC Pickett (Chicopee, Mass.) exchanged kills to set the score at 23-20, five straight Blazers' miscues allowed Framingham State to pull away for a 25-23 win in the third stanza and complete the sweep of the match.

Elms' senior outside hitter Christina Martin (Chicopee, Mass.) and freshman outside hitter Alexandra Mack (Wilbraham, Mass.) downed four kills each, and Pickett and sophomore middle hitter Christine Searles (Tolland, Mass.) added three each in the loss.

Mack also added five digs, while Martin and junior middle hitter Rachel Cowan (Ellington, Conn.) added five digs apiece.

Nee and Fernandes each finished with double-digit kills as Fernandes collected 12 behind Nee's 17. Sophomore Michelle DeJesus (Framingham, Mass.) notched a match-high 13 digs, followed by eight from Fernandes and seven from freshman Danielle Girard (Tivoli, N.Y.), while setter Morgan Drew (North Easton, Mass.) (18 assists), and Kassandra Jermyn (Auburn, Mass.) (12 assists) directed the Rams' offensive efforts.

The Rams return to action on Saturday with a tri-match at Westfield State, while Elms returns to non-conference play on Saturday when it travels to Mount Holyoke College for a tri-match.
