Framingham, Mass. – The Framingham State University women's volleyball team fell to the Salve Regina Seahawks 3-1 on Thursday night in non-conference action.

The first game was won by the Seahawks 25-20, and the visitors would win the second by a slimmer margin, 25-21

After falling down 2-0 the Rams fought back to win the third set, 25-22.  However, Salve Regina would close out the match with a 25-19 forth set victory.  Sophomore Jennifer Duggan (Merrimack, NH) led all hitters with a game-high 11 kills and senior Megan Clancy (Chelmsford, Mass.) added a match-beat 30 digs on the night for the Seahawks.

Head Coach of Salve Regina, Lauren Parsons, was proud how her team remained, "calm and collected" throughout the night, whenever the Rams would fight back.

As for Framingham Head Coach Richard Casali, in his ninth season with the Rams, said, "I never like to lose, but I don't mind that kind of loss, you can take something out of tonight," honoring the effort played by his young Lady Rams.

The Rams were led by junior captain Andressa Fernandes and freshman Danielle Girard (Tivoli, NY) who kept the Rams in it all night.  Fernandes would finish with nine kills, four aces, and 14-digs, while sophomore Ashley Nee (Hanson, Mass.) added nine kills of her own.  Girard finished the night with six kills and 10 digs.

Framingham will now travel to Maine for the weekend and take on Anna Maria and St. Joseph's on Saturday.  Their next home-game will not be until October 4th when they host Western New England.

As for the Seahawks they are focused on beating the school record for wins, which was set last season after finishing 16-14.  With the win tonight, Salve improves to 3-5, after a tough non-conference schedule and return to action on Saturday when they begin the conference portion of their schedule hosting Gordon at 1 p.m.
