Volleyball Opens Conference Play with 3-0 Victory over Mass. Maritime

Framingham, Mass. – The Framingham State University volleyball team opened conference action this evening at home with 3-0 victory over Massachusetts Maritime Academy in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) match at the Athletic Center.

With the win, the Rams improve to 8-1 on the season and 1-0 in the MASCAC, while the Buccaneers fall to 0-4 and 0-1 overall in the conference.  The Rams won by scores of 25-5, 25-7, and 25-10.

Junior Andressa Fernandes (Framingham, Mass.) and freshman Danielle Girard (Tivoli, NY) led the Rams with nine and eight kills respectively.  Girard also chipped in a game-best six aces, while Fernandes added two.  Sophomore Morgan Drew (North Easton, Mass.) and classmate Kassandra Jermyn (Auburn, Mass.) combined for 28 assists, while Anneliese Harrison (Holliston, Mass.) contributed seven kills.

The Rams return to action on Tuesday when they host Salve Regina at 7 p.m., while the Buccaneers host Simmons on Thursday at 7 p.m.
