Volleyball Drops Two with UMass Dartmouth and Western Connecticut

North Dartmouth, Mass. – The Framingham State University volleyball team closed the 2011 regular season with a pair of losses against the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and Western Connecticut State University.  The Rams were defeated by the Corsairs and the Colonials by a score of 3-0 and with the pair of losses are now 19-12 on the season.

The Rams return to action next Saturday as the second seed in the MASCAC Post Season Tournament and they will face third seed Worcester State, who the Rams defeated 3-1 earlier this season.  The tournament will be played at top seed Westfield State.

Against Western Connecticut, the Rams were lead by sophomore Andressa Fernandes (Framingham, Mass.) who picked up six kills and nine digs, while freshman Ashley Nee (Hanson, Mass.) and junior Jackie Friel (Centerville, Mass.) added four kills apiece. Freshman Kayla Bertrand (Agawam, Mass.) chipped in nine digs, while classmate Morgan Drew (North Easton, Mass.) added 15 assists.

In the Rams second match against UMass Dartmouth, Friel led the Rams attack with nine kills and three blocks, while Fernandes chipped in six kills and a team-high 14 digs.  Bertrand chipped in 12 digs, while Drew added 19 assists.
