Volleyball Defeats St. Joseph’s 3-0

Framingham, Mass. – The Framingham State University women's volleyball team defeated St. Joseph's College of Maine 3-0 this evening in non-conference women's volleyball action at Framingham's Athletic Center.  The Rams won by scores of 26-24, 25-16, 25-20.

With the win the Rams improve to 19-10 on the season, while the Monks are now 18-11.

The Rams were led by sophomore Andressa Fernandes (Framingham, Mass.) who picked up 10 kills and six digs.  Freshman Kayla Bertrand (Agawam, Mass.) chipped in 16 digs and two aces, while classmate Morgan Drew (North Easton, Mass.) added 25 assists.  Junior Jackie Friel (Centerville, Mass.) continued her solid play around the net with four blocks, while fellow junior Courtney Moylan (Bourne, Mass.) chipped in with 13 digs.

The Monks Erica Russi (Debary, Fla.) picked up a team-high 14 digs, while junior Kiah Begley (Berwick, ME) and sophomore Kristin Palladino (Exeter, NH) also recorded double digit digs with 12 and 11 respectively.  Begley also chipped in with 15 assists, while Brooke Dyer (Lebanon, ME) chipped in six kills.

The Rams return to action tomorrow with a non-conference tri-match at UMass Dartmouth beginning at 2 p.m., while the Monks travel to Albertus Magnus tomorrow at 1 p.m.
