Volleyball Downs Salem 3-1

Salem, Mass. – The Framingham State University women's volleyball team closed their conference schedule with a 3-1 win tonight on the road over Salem State in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) women's volleyball action.

With the win, the Rams improve to 18-10 on the season and 5-1 in the MASCAC, while the Vikings fall to 3-16 overall and 1-5 in the conference.

The Rams won the first two games by scores of 25-19 and 25-19 before dropping the third to Salem 27-25.  FSU regrouped and took the fourth set 25-17 to secure the victory and the second spot in the MASCAC standings.

The Rams received a strong game from freshman Ashley Nee (Hanson, Mass.).  Nee picked up a team-high 13 kills to go along with 12 digs and a pair of blocks. Sophomore Erin Connolly (Lakeville, Mass.) chipped in 12 kills, while classmate Andressa Fernandes (Framingham, Mass.) also registered double digit kills with 11.

Freshman Kayla Bertrand (Agawam, Mass.) led the Rams defense with 32 digs, while junior Courtney Moylan (Bourne, Mass.) added nine and three aces.  Junior Jackie Friel (Centerville, Mass.) contributed four blocks.

The Rams return to action on Friday night when they host St. Joseph's College of Maine at 7:30 p.m.
