Framingham, Mass. – The Framingham State University women's volleyball team defeated Suffolk University tonight 3-1 in non-conference action at Framingham's Athletic Center.

The FSU Rams (12-7) won by scores of 25-19, 15-25, 25-15 and 25-20.  The loss drops the Suffolk Rams to 6-12 on the season.

With the first set tied at 8-8, Framingham took the lead for good as they capitalized on pair of Suffolk errors and received a timely kill from junior Jackie Friel (Centerville, Mass.) and an ace from freshman Michelle DeJesus (Milford, Mass.).  With the Framingham Rams leading 23-16 late in the first, Suffolk made things interesting after a pair of kills from sophomore Maggie Hillman (North Andover, Mass.) and block error pulled them back within five at 23-18, but FSU was able to close the set out.

Suffolk took the early lead in the second set leading (15-11), but Framingham came back scoring four points in a row to tie the game at 15-15 on a kill from freshman Ashley Nee (Hanson, Mass.).  Suffolk regained the serve and rattled off 10 straight points to close the set and even the match at one apiece.  The Boston Rams capitalize on a slew of FSU receiving errors over the run as Hillman served the final 10 points of the set.

Framingham State took control in the middle of the third set taking a 14-8 lead that they extended to as many as nine (21-12). The Rams received a pair of kills from Nee and Friel over the stretch as well as a huge kill from DeJesus from the back row.

The fourth set went back and forth till Framingham used a six point run to take control of the set at 21-16.  Suffolk battled back pulling within two at 21-19 after a pair of Rams errors, an ace by sophomore Hailey Atkinson (Branford, Conn.) and a kill from Hannah Davis (Haverhill, Mass.).  Framingham regrouped and closed out the set and the match on kills from Friel and sophomore Andressa Fernandes (Framingham, Mass.).

Nee finished the match with a team-high 12 kills, while Friel and Fernandes also recorded double digit kills with 11 and 10 respectively.  Fernandes also picked up 10 digs, while freshman Kayla Bertrand (Agawam, Mass.) chipped in a team-high 13 digs.

The Rams return to action on Saturday with a non-conference tri-match at Eastern Nazarene beginning at 11 a.m., while the Suffolk Rams travel to Gordon tomorrow night at 7 p.m.
