Volleyball Remains Unbeaten in MASCAC with 3-0 Win Over Mass. Maritime

Framingham, Mass. — Behind four aces and 18 assists from freshman setter Maribeth Martin (Marston Mills, Mass.), the Framingham State volleyball team defeated Massachusetts Maritime Academy 3-0 tonigh in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) women's volleyball action at Framingham's Athletic Center.  The Rams won in straight sets by scores of 25-14, 25-14 and 25-1. 

With the win, the Rams improve to 13-10 overall on the season and 2-0 in the MASCAC which places them in a tie atop the conference standings with Westfield State, who is also 2-0.  The Buccaneers fall to 1-17 overall and 0-5 in the conference.

Martin led the Rams in the game with her 18 assists, four aces and 23 service points including 22 in the third set.  Freshman Andressa Fernandes (Framingham, Mass.) picked up a team-high seven kills to go along with a career-high nine aces.  Senior Jessi Goode (Marston Mills, Mass.) chipped in six digs and eight service receptions, while senior Nicole Donofrio (Whitman, Mass.) and sophomore Jackie Friel (Centerville, Mass.) added five kills apiece.  Friel picked up two solo blocks to go along with her five kills, while Donofrio added one.

Prior to the game, Framingham State University head volleyball coach was recognized in a small ceremony for earning his 100th victory earlier in the season.  Casali is the first FSU volleyball coach to reach the 100 win milestone.

The Rams return to action on Saturday as they travel to Newbury College for a tri-match, while the Buccaneers host Salem State on Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
