Volleyball Splits Tri-Match with Fort Kent and Anna Maria

Paxton, Mass. – The Framingham State University volleyball team split two matches this afternoon at a tri-match with the University of Maine Fort Kent and the host Anna Maria College Amcats.  The Rams lost their first match of the day 3-1 to UMFK, whom the Rams defeated by the same score last weekend, and closed the day with a 3-0 win over Anna Maria.  The Rams are now 12-7 on the season.  In the day's other match UMFK defeated Anna Maria 3-0.

In the day's first match, senior Kumiko Chow (Vancouver, B.C.) paced UMFK's straight set victory with a match high 12 kills, while also adding 10 assists and six digs.  Freshmen Savannah Ash (Waialua, Hawaii) and Anabell Chang (Palm Springs, CA) were also instrumental in the victory, adding six and seven aces respectively.  Ash also contributed with 16 assists while Chang chipped in 16 digs. 

Sandy Acosta (Lawrence, Mass.) and Nichole Robbie (Bellingham, Mass.) played well for Anna Maria, as Acosta filled the stat sheet with nine digs, five kills and nine blocks while Robbie added five kills and a match-high 28 digs.

Ash and Chow once again paced UMaine Fort Kent in the 2nd victory of their tri-match sweep, with Ash adding six kills, nine digs and 19 assists.  Chow was a star all-around, providing 15 kills, 11 digs, 14 assists and four aces.  Not to go unnoticed, Senior Amber Garrison (Oroville, CA) chipped in with a match-high 25 digs for UMaine Fort Kent. 

Ashley Trudeau (Rockland, Mass.), Jessi Goode (Marston, Mills, Mass.), Lauren Kasischke (Methuen, Mass.) and Maribeth Martin (Marston Mills, Mass.) did their best to push the Bengals to the brink of defeat, as Trudeau  and Kasischke added 16 and eight kills respectively, while Goode provided 17 digs and Martin dished out a match-high 29 assists.  With the sweep UMaine Fort Kent improves to 5-2 on the season.    

Led by senior Ashley Trudeau's match-high 14 kills and freshman Maribeth Martin's match-high 24 assists, Framingham State defeated the AMCATS in three straight frames to salvage a tri-match split.  Sandy Acosta and Amanda Glennon (Wollaston, Mass.) played well for Anna Maria, as Acosta added five kills, five digs and three blocks while Glennon chipped in with a match-high 10 digs.
