Volleyball Picks Up Two Wins Over Maine Ft. Kent and Daniel Webster

Nashua, N.H. – The Framingham State College volleyball team swept a tri-match with the University of Maine at Fort Kent and Daniel Webster College this afternoon at Mario Vagge Gymnasium.  With the two victories, the Rams improve to 9-6 on the season.

The Rams won the first match of the day defeating the host Eagles, who are now 4-2 on the season, 3-0, by scored of 25-22, 25-18, and 25-20.

Framingham State went on to defeat Maine-Ft. Kent 3-1 in the day's middle match, before Daniel Webster finished the day with a 3-1 victory over Ft. Kent.

In the day's opener, Framingham was paced by the duo of Andressa Fernandes (Framingham, Mass.) and Ashley Trudeau (Rockland, Mass.) who knocked down nine kills apiece.

Maribeth Martin (Marston Mills, Mass.) dished out 24 assists for the winners, while Jesse Goode (Marston Mills, Mass.) notched 11 digs.

Crawford and sophomore Brier Temple (Concord, N.H.) led the Eagles with six kills apiece while Caitlyn DePierro (Chelmsford, Mass.) notched 19 assists and Catherine Ferraro (Litchfield, N.H.) pulled in 15 digs.

In the midday game, Fernandes led the Rams with a match-high 12 kills, while Lauren Kasischke (Methuen, Mass.) and Trudeau notched seven each as Framingham prevailed, 25-22, 21-25, 25-11, 25-20. Martin dished off 37 assists while Goode pulled down 16 digs.

Kumiko Chow (Vancouver, B.C.) led the Bengals with 13 kills and seven digs, while Laura Ann Aronson (Turlock, Cal.) and Anabell Chang (Palm Springs, Cal.) had five kills each. Chang added 11 digs.

In the nightcap, the Eagles won 25-18, 20-25, 25-11 and 25-23. Along with Crawford and Travis, DePierro notched 33 assists while Ferraro added 10 digs and Jenny Finneran (Barnstead, N.H.) added four total blocks.

The Bengals were paced by a double double of 11 kills and 11 digs from Chow while Chang added seven kills and Aronson notched five. Savannah Ash (Waialua, Haw.) added 19 assists.

The Eagles return to action on Wednesday when they host Saint Joseph's, Maine at 7 p.m.  Framingham State visits Elms on Tuesday at 7 p.m., while UMFK visits Southern Maine on Friday at 7 p.m.
