Volleyball Falls to Western New England

Framingham, MA - The Framingham State College volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision at home tonight to the Western New England College Golden Bears.  With the win, the Golden Bears move to 11-13 on the season, while the Rams fall to 9-12.

The Golden Bears edged the Rams in the first set 25-23, but the Rams came back and won the second set 25-19 as sophomore hitter Ashley Trudeau (Rockland, MA) served seven straight points including two aces to put the Rams ahead.  Western New England finished off the Rams by winning the third set 25-18 and the fourth 25-10 as senior Sarah Wainwright (Gilford, NH) opened a big lead with six straight service points. 

Trudeau finished the night with 13 kills, 10 digs, four aces and three blocks for the Rams.  Defensive specialists Allie Appleman (Hyannis, MA) and Jessi Goode (Marston Mills, MA) added 25 and 15 digs respectively.

Both teams return to action on Saturday as the Rams travel to Westfield State for a tri-match with Worcester State and the Golden Bears travel to MIT for a quad match beginning at 10:30 a.m.
