Volleyball Downed by UMass Boston

Framingham, MA - The Framingham State College volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision at home tonight to the visiting Beacons of UMass Boston.  With the win, the Beacons improve to 16-7 on the season, while the Rams fall to 9-11.

The Beacons won the first two sets easily 25-10 and 25-13 before the Rams rallied and took a hard fought third set 25-20.  UMass Boston took the fourth set 25-17 to pick up the win.

The Beacons attack was led by junior outside hitter Kate McWhorter (Bakersfield, CA) and freshman middle hitter Molly Rattigan (Dorchester, MA) who served eight straight points to open the match and set the tone for the night for the Beacons.

The Rams were led by freshman outside hitter Meagan Malloy (Milford, MA) who had a team-high 10 kills and five digs.  Sophomore Ashley Trudeau (Rockland, MA) chipped in nine kills and 16 digs, while fellow sophomore Jessi Goode (Marston Mills, MA) added 11 digs.

Both teams return to action on Thursday night as the Rams host Western New England at 7 p.m. and the Beacons travel to Roger Williams at 7p.m.
