Volleyball Falls to Salve Regina, 3-1

Framingham, MA - The Framingham State College volleyball team played their first home game of the season tonight at the Athletic & Recreation Center and were defeated 3-1 by the visiting Seahawks of Salve Regina.  Salve Regina, who improved to 5-4 on the season, won the first two sets 25-13 and 25-20 before Framingham took the third set 25-16.  Salve Regina responded by taking the fourth set 25-21 for the win.

The Seahawks were led by junior outside hitter Deanna Salter (Westwood, MA) who had a team-high 10 kills on the night, while fellow junior hitter Brittney Canaff (Paramus, NJ) added eight kills.  Freshman Brianna Am (Providence, RI) chipped in three aces and 17 digs, while senior Amanda Harmon (Dennis, MA) added 25 digs.

The Rams (3-5) were led by sophomore outside hitter Ashley Trudeau (Rockland, MA) who had a game-high 17 kills and 13 digs, while fellow sophomore Nicolo Donofrio (Whitman, MA) added seven kills.  Sophomores Allie Appleman (Hyannis, MA), who had 12 digs and three aces, and Jessi Goode (Marston Mills, MA), who had a team-high 17 digs, continued their strong play in the back for the Rams.

The Rams return to action on Saturday as they travel to Newbury for a tri-match with Wentworth beginning at 11:00 a.m., while the Seahawks host Simmons on Monday at 7:00 p.m.
