Volleyball Snaps Five Game Slide with 3-1 Win Over Emmanuel

Framingham, MA - The Framingham State College volleyball team snapped a five game losing streak tonight at home with a 3-1 win over Emmanuel College.  With the win, the Rams improve to 12-8 on the season, while Emmanuel falls to 2-13.

Emmanuel came out strong in the first game and opened leads of 18-9 and 27-20 before the Rams came storming back.  Freshman Allison Appleman (Hyannis, MA) served ten straight points including three aces to erase the Rams deficit and give them a 30-27 win in the first game.  Game two belonged to the Rams as they cruised to a 30-15 win in the second frame.  The Saints came back from a deficit early in game three to take their first lead at 22-21 and eventually won the game 31-29.  Game four was back and forth with the Rams eventually collecting the win 30-27.

Appleman had an outstanding game for the Rams with three aces, 27 service receptions and 28 digs.  Fellow freshman Ashley Trudeau (Rockland, MA) chipped in 12 kills, two aces, eight digs and three blocks.  Junior Andrea Larson (Milton, MA) added nine kills, nine digs and three blocks, while senior Liz Pedro (Brockton, MA) added 34 assists and freshman Nicole Donofrio (Whitman, MA) added a career high seven blocks.

The Rams return to action on Tuesday, October 9th at home against Gordon at 6 p.m., while the Saints host Rivier College on Wednesday.
