Women's Track and Field Finishes Third at MASCAC Championships

Fitchburg, Mass. - The Framingham State University women's track and field team received first place finishes from Casey McAuliffe, Kaylee Beck and Emily Newcomb as the Rams finished third at the 2023 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:  

  • The Rams finished third with 92 points, while Bridgewater State claimed the MASCAC Title and Westfield State took second place. Fitchburg State placed fourth (81 points) and Worcester State fifth (76 points) and Mass. Maritime rounded out the field in sixth. 

  • McAuliffe crossed the line first claiming the MASCAC Title in the 10,000M run. She finished with a time of 39:41.72 which has qualified her for the DIII All-New England Meet next weekend. 

  • Kaylee Beck captured a pair of MASCAC titles finishing first in both the shot put and hammer. Beck won the shot put with her throw of 11.24M which also qualifies her for DIII All-New England's. She won the hammer with a throw of 37.50M and also finished third in the discus with a throw of 30.10M. 

  • Emily Newcomb repeated as the MASCAC Champion in the 3,000M steeplechase as she finished with a time of 12:23.39. Newcomb narrowly missed a second MASCAC title by just half a second as she finished second in the 800M run with a time of 2:28.69. 

  • Kammarie Pelland finished in fourth in the steeplechase with a time of 13:18.73, while Olivia Poole picked up points with her sixth-place finish in the 10,000 with her time of 41:41.95. 

  • Alyssa Caputo picked up points for the Rams with fourth place finishes in the hammer throw (31.94M), discus (29.61) and shotput (11.24M). 

  • The Rams received a fourth-place finish in the javelin from Pelland at 29.2M and a fifth-place finish from Brooke Fenton at 25.83M. 

  • Elizabeth Dykstra picked up a sixth place finish for the Rams in the 400M with her time of 1:04.93. 

  • The Rams relay teams had a strong showing with the 4x800M relay team of Meghan Johnston, Gwen Madden, McAuliffe and Newcomb finishing second at 4:56.24. The 4x400M relay team of Leah Chace, Hannah Nilson, Kelsey Gendreau and Dykstra placed fourth and the 4x100 team of Rebecca Morris, Fenton, Lydia Marunowski and Dykstra finished fifth.
