Women's Soccer Selected to Finish Fifth in MASCAC Preseason Poll

Framingham, Mass.- The Framingham State University women's soccer team has been selected to finish fifth in the 2023 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Soccer Preseason Poll as voted upon by the MASCAC head women's soccer coaches. 

The Rams finished tied for the fifth spot with Salem State as both team collected 22 points.  The Rams return a trio of All-MASCAC players from a season ago led by 2022 first team selection in goalkeeper Jetta Oskirko.  Oskirko finished last season with 161 saves, an .817 save percentage, a 2.77 GAA and a pair of shutouts. Second Team selections Victoria Potter returns for the defense, while Cathryn Cooney returns at midfield having netted a pair of goals a season ago.

Reigning MASCAC Regular Season and Tournament Champion Westfield State claimed the top spot with five first place votes and 47 total points.  Fitchburg State collected a pair of first place votes and 41 points to secure the second spot, while Bridgewater State claimed the final first place vote and 38 points to secure the third spot.

Worcester State followed in fourth with 34 points and the Rams and the Vikings followed tied for the fifth spot. Rounding out the poll are Massachusetts Maritime in seventh and MCLA in eighth.

The Rams open the 2023 season on Friday, September 1st when they travel to Roger Williams.
