Larocque’s Two Scores Lead Women’s Soccer Over RIC

Framingham, Mass. – Framingham State senior Kaelen Larocque (Upton, Mass.) scored two first half goals to lead the Rams through Rhode Island College in non-conference action Wednesday afternoon at Maple Street Field. With the win the Rams improve to 2-4 while the Anchorwomen also move to 2-4 on the season.

The Rams opened the scoring in the 30th minute when Larocque sent a long strike into the net after intercepting an attempted clear from the goalkeeper.

RIC answered just over ten minutes later when Stephanie Ricci (Smithfield, RI) gathered a 50-50 ball and dribbled past a Rams defender and beat the keeper to knot the score at one all.

The hosts answered just over two minutes after the RIC score when Larocque gathered a one-time pass from Caitlyn Our (Barnstable, Mass.) and sent it home.

The visitors had a chance to tie in the 88th minute when Brittany DeGrooth (Westely, RI) had a shot deflect off the crashing goalie and spin just wide of the right post.

Kirsten Hansen (Framingham, Mass.) made three saves in net for the Rams. Erica Edwards (North Kingstown, RI) made ten stops in goal for the Anchorwomen.

The Rams outshot the visitors 25-to-8 on the day. Both teams attempted 5 corners.

The Rams return to action on Saturday, September 23rd when they host Bridgewater State at 11:00am. RIC travels to Southern Maine on the same day for a Little East matchup.
