Women’s Soccer Drops MASCAC Matchup with Worcester; 2-0

Framingham, Mass.- The Framingham State women's soccer team was defeated by visiting Worcester State by a score of 2-0 in MASCAC action Saturday afternoon in Framingham. With the win the Lancers improve to 3-4 and 2-0 in the league. The Rams fall to 3-4 overall and 1-1 in MASCAC play.

After a back-and-forth first half the Lancers broke through in the 69th minute when Tsara Leblanc (Gardner, Mass.) found the back of the net for the game's first score.

The Rams had an opportunity to tie the game in the 83rd minute when a Lancer foul set up a free kick for the Rams from about 28 yards out. Angela Pallotta (Sterling, Mass.) sent a high strike towards the net that Worcester goalkeeper Vanessa O'Donnell (Worcester, Mass.) had to make a diving save on to protect the Lancers lead.

With the Rams trying to push the pressure into their offensive zone in the final minute the Lancers were able to create a 2-on-1 advantage that Cate Farmer (Billerica, Mass.) cashed in on when she sent Christina Spinos' (Wilmington, Mass.) one-time pass into the open side of the net.

The Lancers outshot the Rams 21-to-13 and were awarded ten corner kicks to the Rams 2.

O'Donnell made four saves in the shut out for Worcester while Keyonzia Gagne-Lamoureux (East Brookfield, Mass.) made six stops on the day for the Rams.

The Rams return to action on Wednesday, September 28th when the travel to Roger Williams for a 7pm match. The Lancers travel to Western Connecticut for a non-conference matchup on the same day.
