Framingham, Mass. – The Framingham State University women's soccer team scored the first of four goals just two minutes and twenty-one seconds into the first half in a 4-0 victory over Southern Maine on Saturday afternoon at the Maple St. Field. With the victory the Rams improve to 3-1 and the Huskies fall to 3-3 on the year.

Senior Isabela DeSouza (Framingham, MA) buried a long strike from twenty-five yards out into the back of the net to give the Rams a quick one goal lead. FSU added onto their lead in the 14th minute when again, DeSouza found the back of the net after a long cross by freshman Molly Kelley (Medway, MA).

FSU's final two goals were scored by senior Marisa Parent (Revere, MA). In the 64th minute Parent beat a defender after a long cross from fellow captain sophomore Marissa Miele (Hudson, MA). Parent then scored with just over 4 minutes remaining on a one-time shot with the assist going to sophomore Olivia Buonopane (Middleton, MA).

The Rams' defense held Southern Maine from registering a shot until the 59th minute. The Huskies best opportunity to score came with just under ten minutes to play. A Framingham State foul set up a direct kick for Southern Maine. A Huskies' player then sent a long strike into the box and CC Pelletier headed a shot that was saved by Rams goalkeeper Sara Sullivan (Quincy, MA/ North Quincy).

Sullivan made 3 saves on the day earning her second shutout of the season. Marissa Temple made eleven saves during her ninety minutes in net for the Huskies. The Rams outshot the Huskies 27 to 3 in the contest.

The Rams return to action Tuesday, September 16th when they travel to WPI. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
