Women's Soccer Remains Unbeaten in the MASCAC with 4-1 Win at MCLA

North Adams, Mass. - The Framingham State University women's soccer team used a strong defensive effort in the second half and got a pair of goals and an assist from senior Kayla Austin (Winchester, Mass.) to pull away from MCLA 4-1 in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) women's soccer action at Shewcraft Field. 
The Rams improve to 8-1-1 overall and remain unbeaten in MASCAC play at 3-0-1, while MCLA falls to 5-8 overall and 1-3 in league play.

The first half was an offensive barrage as the two teams combined for 18 shots.  The Rams broke through in the 25th minute when Austin netted her 8th goal of the season to give the visitors a 1-0 edge.  She would tally again nine minutes later, this time off a feed from freshman Michaela Hyland (East Longmeadow, Mass.) to push out to a 2-0 edge. 

MCLA would slice into the lead just before halftime when Darien Sullivan knocked home a rebound off the foot of Natalie Caney to make it 2-1 at halftime.

In the second half, Framingham took charge as they outshot MCLA 7-0 in the half and pulled away with a pair of goals.  In the 70th minute, senior Taylor Ezold (Westfield, Mass.)used an Austin feed to make it 3-1 and then junior Isabela DeSouza (Framingham, Mass.) scored in the 87th minute to ice the victory.

Sophomore Sara Sullivan (Quincy, Mass.) stopped five shots to earn the win.  Kathryn Daly started in net for MCLA and absorbed the loss stopping four shots.  Danielle Heinsohn started the second half and recorded three saves.

The Rams host Wentworth on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. in a non-conference tilt.
