Gorham, Maine - Juniors Marisa Parent (Revere, Mass.) and Isabela DeSouza (Framingham, Mass.) each netted two goals as the visiting Framingham State University Rams defeated the University of Southern Maine Huskies 6-0 in a non-conference women's soccer match Saturday afternoon at Hannaford Field.

The win was the second straight for the Rams who improve to 3-1 on the season.  The Huskies dropped their second straight match to slide to 3-3 overall.

Senior midfielder Kayla Austin (Winchester, Mass.) orchestrated the Rams offense dishing out three assists before scoring the final goal directly off a corner kick.  Senior Cara Murtagh (Quincy, Mass.) had the other Rams goal.

Framingham State junior goalkeeper Lauren Hoole (Dracut, Mass.) earned the shutout making two saves.  Southern Maine senior Katie Cobb (Lewiston, Maine) started and made nine saves in 64 minutes before giving way to sophomore Marissa Temple (Grafton, Mass.).  Temple recorded one save.

The Rams got off to a lightning start scoring twice in the opening three minutes.  DeSouza hit a left-footed shot inside the post off a feed from Austin at 1:24.  Parent ran onto a beautifully placed pass from Austin and chipped a shot over Cobb to make it 2-0 at 2:40.

DeSouza lofted a long pass into space for Parent to run onto and earn her second goal of the match with a 10-yard shot in the 25th minute.

The Huskies best scoring opportunity came in the 30th minute.  Junior Nicole Bordeau (Sanford, Maine) took a free kick from just outside the penalty area that Hoole got a glove on and directed off the right post.  The ball caromed out into play and was cleared away from danger before the Huskies could get a foot to the ball.

Murtagh scored an unassisted marker in the 49th minute to increase the lead to 4-0.  Parent (from Austin) and Austin scored seven minutes apart after the hour mark to account for the score.

The Rams finished the game with a wide margin in shots, 31-5, and a 9-3 advantage in corner kicks.

Southern Maine travels to Salem State University for a non-conference match on Wednesday (7:00 p.m.).  Framingham State will host WPI in non-conference action Tuesday afternoon (4:00 p.m.).
