Worcester, Mass. – Emily Braun (Irvington, N.Y.) scored the game's lone goal and Gabby Paolini (North Potomac, Md.) recorded her sixth career shutout as host Clark University collected a 1-0 win over Framingham State University in non-league women's soccer action on Saturday afternoon at Granger Soccer Field.

The win for the Cougars (2-1) gives head coach Joe Brady his 86th win as Clark's sideline mentor, pushing him past Andy Schechter for the most wins in the 28-year history of women's soccer at Clark.

FSU, meanwhile, sees their record even out at 1-1 following their win over Keene State on Wednesday.

Braun provided the Cougars all the offense they would need in the 21st minute when Janelle Pasternack (North Brookfield, Mass.) slipped an excellent pass by a defender and to the streaking Braun, who fired a shot into the upper left corner and past the outstretched arms of Ram net minder Lauren Hoole (Dracut, Mass.).

Paolini made that goal stand up with a couple of incredible saves and a little bit of luck. After Kayla Austin (Winchester, Mass.) made a fantastic individual move to get by a few Clark defenders, her low blast from the top of the box was turned away by Paolini.

Then, as the half wore down, Austin broke free and looked to be in position to even the score, but again, Paolini was able to turn her shot aside with a diving stop.

The Rams best scoring chance in the final 45 minutes came when Austin again found herself free inside the box, but her low shot banged off the post and was cleared away by the Clark defense.

Hoole and Paolini each made three stops for their respective teams and the Cougars held a 13-8 edge in shots.

Brady, who won 67 games in five seasons as the head coach at Anna Maria before arriving at Clark for the 2001, now has 153 career coaching victories in 18 all-time seasons.

Clark will return to action on Tuesday when they host Roger Williams, while the Rams visit Curry on Wednesday evening.
