DeSouza and Austin Earn All-MASCAC First Team Honors – DeSouza Named Rookie of the Year

Buzzards Bay, Mass. – Framingham State University freshman forward Isabela DeSouza (Framingham, Mass.) has been tabbed as the 2011 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) women's soccer Rookie of the Year as she and teammate sophomore midfielder Kayla Austin (Winchester, Mass.) have been named first team All-MASCAC in voting conducted by the conference's eight coaches and announced by the MASCAC this morning.    

DeSouza, who had an outstanding freshman season, led the Rams in scoring with 13 goals and three assists for 29 points.  DeSouza was selected the MASCAC Player of the Week once this year and scored three game-winning goals for the Rams as they finished 8-8-1.  Austin, who transferred to Framingham State, earns her first All-MASCAC accolades.  Austin was second on the team in scoring behind DeSouza with seven goals and nine assists for 23 points on the season.  Austin was the Rams driving force at midfield and she also collected three game-winning goals on the year.
