Women's Soccer Defeats MCLA 3-1

North Adams, Mass. - The visiting Framingham State University women's soccer team used a late first half goal and a strong second half to push past MCLA 3-1 in Women's Soccer.  With the win, Framingham moves to 6-5-1 overall and 2-1-1 in the MASCAC, while MCLA falls to 4-7-1 and 1-2-1 in conference play.

Framingham freshman forward Isabela DeSouza (Framingham, Mass.) scored a pair of goals, both in the second half and assisted on the Rams first marker.   

The opening half was played at a fast pace with each team having quality chances to score through first.  The Rams broke the ice with just 38 seconds left before halftime.  Marisa Parent (Revere, Mass.) took a DeSouza feed and went in uncontested to the goal.  She easily beat Trailblazer keeper Jen Wehner for the 1-0 halftime lead.

Framingham used an aggressive opening to the second half to take complete control.  DeSouza tallied the first of her goals in the 49th minute as she headed home a Kayla Austin (Winchester, Mass.) corner kick.  In the 66th minute, she would take a cross from Parent and hammered it home for a commanding 3-0 lead.

MCLA would tally their only goal with five minutes to play when Lindsay Roy converted off of a Tia Polana through ball.  The Trailblazers would not threaten again.

The Rams owned a 27-11 shot advantage, including a 14-5 edge in the second half a 7-1 edge in corners.

McKenzie Vershon (Chicopee, Mass.) earned the win in net stopping three shots on the afternoon.Wehner would stop 10 shots in the loss.

MCLA will travel to Sage College on Wednesday for a non-league matchup, while the Rams host Wentworth on Monday at 1 p.m.
