Women's Soccer Blanked by Babson 3-0

Babson Park, Mass. – Sophomore Amy Festa (Medfield, Mass.) scored the go-ahead goal at the 32-minute mark and junior keeper Lisa Wojnar (Belaire, Texas) made three saves in net to lead the Babson College women's soccer team to a 3-0 victory over visiting Framingham State College in a non-conference matchup at Hartwell-Rogers Field on Tuesday afternoon. It was the fourth straight victory for the Beavers, who are now 5-1-0 on the season, while the Rams fell to 0-4-0.

Babson netted the game's first goal late in the first half, as sophomore Emily Anderson (Scituate, Mass.) headed a pass behind the defense at midfield. Festa then ran it down and broke in all alone on Framingham State first-year goalie Kaitlyn Rossi (Pepperell, Mass.) before lofting a shot into the far right corner for her second goal of the season at 32:00.

The Beavers added two more goals in the second half, the first coming when sophomore Ashley Tourso (Glen Rock, N.J.) knocked a cross from classmate Kelly Hanly (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) inside the left post at 63:41. Junior Lauren Clement (Pittsfield, Mass.) then made it 3-0 when she tucked her first goal of the season into an open net off a feed from sophomore Nichole Vargas (Warren, R.I.) at 78:09.

That would be more than enough for Wojnar, who turned away all three shots on net that she faced to earn her fourth consecutive shutout.

Rossi finished with eight saves in defeat for Framingham State.

The Rams return to action on Thursday afternoon as they host Johnson & Wales at 4 p.m.
