Women's Soccer Downs MCLA for Second MASCAC Win

Framingham, MA - The Framingham State College women's soccer team picked up their second conference win of the season today at home with a 4-1 victory over the MCLA Trailblazers.  Both teams are now 2-3 in Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference (MASCAC) play as the Rams improve to 4-8 overall and the Trailblazers fall to 11-4 overall.

Framingham State sophomore back Jill Johnson (Mansfield, MA) put the Rams up 1-0 in the 28th minute of play as she fired a direct kick into the back of the net from 25 yards out.  Four minutes later, the Rams would double their lead as freshman Kerry Kiley (Mansfield, MA) dribbled thru the Trailblazers defense and beat the goal keeper with a shot for her team high 5th goal of the season.

The Trailblazers would cut into the Rams lead in the 70th minute as junior Jade Prickett (Westhampton, MA) sent the ball into the box and sophomore forward Jess Tietgens (Stamford, VT) scored to make it 2-1.

Freshman back Heather Gosnell (Sutton, MA) would give the Rams back a two goal cushion as she converted a direct kick from 20 yards out in the 88th minute and senior midfielder Jill Jenkinson (Boxford, MA) added a goal in the 89th minute to give the Rams a three goal lead.

Both teams return to action on Tuesday as the Rams host Southern Maine at 3:30 p.m. and the Trailblazers host Lyndon State at 3 p.m.
