Women's Soccer Edged 1-0 by Curry College

Framingham, MA - The Framingham State College women's soccer team lost a hard fought contest 1-0 today on Maple Street Field to the Colonels of Curry College.  The win lifts Curry College to 5-2-1 on the season, while the Rams fall to 1-5.

Sophomore Emily Keeman (Whitman, MA) scored the game winner for Curry in the 14th minute of play as she lofted a shot from 25 yards out over the head and just out of reach of the Rams keeper Kate Simonelli (Pittsfield, MA).

Curry outshot Framingham 16-11 on the day and held off a late offense surge by the Rams to pull out the win.  The Rams best opportunity to score came with just over six minutes remaining in the game when freshman Michaela Plaster (Needham, MA) placed a cross in the box and senior Brianna McCarthy (Shirley, MA) headed the ball towards the net but was wide by just inches.

Freshman goalkeeper Julie Tinetti (New Haven, CT) made five saves on the day and picked up the shutout win for the Colonels, while Simonelli made eight stops in a losing effort for the Rams.

The Rams return to action on Saturday as they host Massachusetts Maritime at 2 p.m., while the Colonels host New England College at 5 p.m. also on Saturday.
