Women’s Lacrosse Falls 17-11 to Worcester State in MASCAC Clash

Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State University women's lacrosse team was defeated this evening 17-11 by Worcester State University in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action at Maple Street Field.

-Records: Framingham State (8-7, 4-1), Worcester State (9-6, 3-1)

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

  • The Rams were paced offensively by four goals from Emma Kendzulak, while Hailey Baker finished the game with a goal, five assists and three draw control. 

  • Leah Green tallied a pair of goals with an assist, while Alessia Lye finished the game with a goal and an assist. 

  • The first quarter was tightly contested with the two teams trading the lead. The Rams led 2-1 after a goal from Kelley DeBellis with 10:17 on the clock.  

  • The Lancers tied the game at 2-2 before Kendzulak put the Rams back on top 3-2. The Lancers tallied two straight goals to lead 4-3 with 6:45 to play, but Madeline Bosma found the back of the net to send the game to the second tied 4-4. 

  • The Rams used a pair of goals from Green to lead 6-5 with 8:28 on the clock.  The Lancers rattled off a 4-0 run including a pair from Molly Witkowski to lead 9-6. Hailey Baker converted a free position shot in the final minute to send the game to the half with the Rams trailing 9-7. 

  • Kendzulak converted a free position shot midway through the third to pull the Rams back within one goal, but the Lancers responded with a free position shot of their own to push the lead back to two with 3:40 on the clock. Both teams converted goals in the final three minutes, and the Lancers led 11-9 after three. 

  • The Lancers opened the fourth quarter with a 4-0 run taking a 15-9 lead with 11:10 to go. The Rams used back-to-back goals from Kendzulak to cut the deficit to 15-11 with 7:24 on the clock, but that was as close as they would get as the Lancers added a pair of goals down the stretch.
