Women's Lacrosse Surges Past Worcester State 17-10

Worcester, Mass. - The Framingham State University women's lacrosse team jumped out to a 7-3 lead after one quarter and never looked back as they defeated Worcester State 17-10 this evening in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action at Coughlin Field.  

THE BASICS:

- Records: Framingham State (7-6, 4-0 MASCAC), Worcester State (8-6, 3-1 MASCAC) 

- Location: Worcester, Mass. – Coughlin Field 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • The Rams were paced offensively in the game by six goals and an assist from Hannah Guerin. With the seven points tonight, Guerin has surpassed the 100-point mark for the Rams in her second season with the program. 

  • Tara Palermo added four goals for the Rams and dished out an assist. Palermo's five points in the game also pushed Palermo over the 100-career point mark for the Rams. 

  • Rachel Erickson chipped in with two goals and a pair of helpers. 

  • Leah Green added two goals and an assist for the Rams, while Kathryn Simpson tallied a goal and an assist in the contest. 

  • Regan Fein finished the night with a goal and two helpers, while Hailey Baker found the back of the net once. 

  • The Lancers were led by three goals from Shea Jarvis, while Lily Gendron added two goals and a helper. 

  • Alexis Burleigh earned the victory in net and made 16 saves. 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • Worcester State led 2-1 with just over 13 minutes to play in the first, but the Rams rattled off five straight including three from Guerin to take a 6-2 lead with just over four left in the first.  

  • The two teams traded goals in the final minute of the frame and the Rams led 7-3 after one. 

  • Worcester State outscored the Rams 4-2 in the second quarter and trailed 9-7 at the half. 

  • The Rams opened the second half with back-to-back goals pushing the lead to 11-7. 

  • The Lancers closed the frame with a goal from Gendron and trailed 12-10 after three. 

  • The Rams held the Lancers off the board in the fourth quarter and found the back of the net five times to secure the MASCAC victory.

The Rams are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Westfield State for a MASCAC tilt at 7 p.m., while the Lancers travel to Fitchburg State on Saturday at 6 p.m.
