Roger Williams Runs Past Women’s Lacrosse

• Nikki Norton led the way early for the Hawks, scoring her first goal of the game just 1:35 into the contest. Norton got an assist 19 seconds later helping Lily Cunningham on her 13th goal of the season. Mandy Beck notched her first goal of the contest, which Norton then followed up with another goal of her own before Framingham State's Tara Palermo snuck one past Hannah Goodwin to get the Rams on the board.  

• Following Devon Sarazin's second goal of the game, Karli Chapin capitalized on a free position before Ryleigh Cavanaugh blew another one past Alexis Burleigh  to give RWU an eight-goal lead.  

• A free position attempt for Norton 20 seconds into the second quarter was unsuccessful thanks to a strong save from Burleigh which FSU then turned into a goal of their own once again from the stick of Palermo. The Rams kept applying the pressure with Hannah Guerin scoring her first goal of the game, dropping the Hawks lead to six. But the Hawks weathered the storm, thanks to two goals in 14 seconds with the first from Chapin on a power play, and the second from Beck, taking the draw control all the way to the net.  

• Two more goals from Chapin and Sarazin gave RWU a 10-goal lead before having to play a Hawk down due to a yellow card. Goodwin was solid in net notching her second save of the game which led to a Campbell Haller goal during the penalty kill. Roger Williams would maintain a 15-3 lead heading into the second half.    

• The Hawks came out of the break firing on all cylinders, as Sarazin notched the first goal of the second half with some help coming from Cavanaugh, and Norton followed it up with a goal of her own with an assist from Cunningham. Two more free position attempts for the home team for Ella Waryas saw two shots saved by Burleigh. With 20 seconds left, a yellow card called on Cunningham carried over into the final quarter as Framingham State was unable to capitalize in the remaining seconds.  

• An early un-releasable yellow card for RWU that overlapped with Cunningham's saw the Hawks play two down for the first 1:40 of the fourth quarter. The Rams did capitalize this time with Madison Skiff  scoring her first goal of the game, and Framingham State scored their seventh goal of the game on a Guerin free position attempt.  

• Palermo continued the Rams' offensive charge scoring her third of the game, and cutting the Hawks' lead down to nine before Regan Fein put one past Goodwin with nine minutes left in the final quarter. Goodwin notched her first save of the quarter with seven and a half minutes remaining to help the Hawks bounce back from a slow start. RWU went on a fast break that led to a free position goal for Cunningham to put the Hawks back up by nine.  

• A yellow card with four and a half minutes remaining on FSU led to a RWU goal from Cavanaugh that put the Hawks back up by 10. A Beck ground ball on the defensive end that she took the distance before a quick back and forth with Cavanaugh saw her score the final goal of the game, as the Hawks downed the Rams 20-9 while outscoring outscore their last three opponents by a combined score of 56-18.  

• Devon Sarazin and Mandy Beck led the way for the Hawks with 4 goals each.  

• Ryleigh Cavanaugh, Nikki Norton and Karli Chapin all chipped in three scores.  

• Hannah Goodwin earned the win making 5 saves with 9 goals allowed in 60 minutes in goal. 

• Tara Palermo paced the Rams with 4 goals, 1 ground ball, 1 caused turnover while Hannah Guerin added two goals, 1 ground ball, 1 caused turnover  

• Alexis Burleigh made 4 saves in the loss.
