Women’s Lacrosse Finishes Second in MASCAC Preseason Poll

Framingham, Mass.-  The Framingham State women's lacrosse team has been predicted to finish second in the 2021 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Preseason poll as voted on by the coaches from around the league.

The Rams received 35 points and two first place votes good for the second spot in the poll. The Rams posted a 2-2 record in 2020 before having their season cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  

The 2019 Rams captured their first ever MASCAC Regular Season Title posting a 7-0 record in conference play. The Rams finished the year 15-4 overall falling by one in the MASCAC Title Game.  

The Rams are paced by All-Conference senior Alissa Marino (Trumbull, Conn.), who led the MASCAC in goals in 2019 with 63 and contributed 15 assists. Also returning for the Rams is first team All-MASCAC honoree Hanna McMahon (Watertown, Mass.) who led the Rams with 57 DCs and contributed 33 goals her sophomore season.

The Rams welcome eight freshmen to their 2021 squad:

#4 Hannah Stearns (Middleboro, Mass.) was a four-year varsity starter for the Middleboro High School lacrosse team and was named captain for both junior and senior year. Trained with the Aces Lacrosse Club.

#8 Emily Colburn (Nashua, NH) was a four-year varsity member and three-year starter for the Nashua South lacrosse team. Playing midfield for the Panthers, she will focus on the defensive side of the field for the Rams. Played club with Granite State Elite.

#9 Juli Guzi (New Fairfield, CT) was a four-year member of the reigning SWC and Class S State Champions – New Fairfield Rebels. She was slated to start on attack senior year as the team pursued their 4th consecutive championship and third straight SWC title. Played club with Cobra Kai Lacrosse.

#10 Hannah Guerin (Cumberland, RI) was a four-year varsity starter for the Cumberland High School lacrosse team. She was named RI Rookie of the Year for D1 in 2017, 2nd Team All-Division in 2018 and in 2019, named to both 1st All-Division and 1st All-State Teams. In her three seasons, she amassed 119 goals and 30 assists. Played club with Gold Start Lacrosse.

#17 Regan Fein (North Attleboro, Mass.) was a four-year varsity member for the North Attleboro High School lacrosse team and three-sport contributor for the Big Red. As a junior in 2019, she was named both a Hockomock League All-Star and Sun Chronicle All-Star.

#19 Rachel Erickson (Dunstable, Mass.) was a four-year varsity starter for the Groton-Dunstable Regional High School lacrosse team. Helped her team to the 2017 Central Mass district championship and was named a Central Mass all-star in 2019. She finished her high school career with 100+ points in just three seasons. Played club with the New Hampshire Tomahawks since 7th grade.

#22 Hannah Allen (Franklin, Mass.) a lefty goalie who has trained with the Bay State Bullets the past three years and the club Laxachusettes prior.

#26 Brooke Phelps (Lanesboro, Mass.) was a three-year starter for the Mt. Greylock High School lacrosse team which played for back to back D2 Central/Western Massachusetts titles in 2018 and 2019. She was also named to the All-Star Berkshire County Team in 2019 and played club with Berkshire Attack throughout high school as well.

The Rams will open their COVID shortened 2021 campaign on Wednesday, March 17th when they host a non-conference match up with Johnson & Wales. Due to COVID-19 safety precautions, at this time there are no spectators allowed at any MASCAC contest.
