Women's Lacrosse Earns Top Seed in 2019 MASCAC Tournament

Framingham, Mass. – The 2019 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) regular season champion Framingham State University women's lacrosse team has earned the top seed in this week's MASCAC Women's Lacrosse Championship Tournament.     

The Rams finished the regular season with 14-3 overall including a perfect 7-0 mark in the MASCAC.   The Rams have earned the right to host one of the semifinals on Thursday night.

The Rams have earned a first round bye in the tournament by virtue of their first place finish.  Fourth seed Worcester State hosts fifth seed Massachusetts Maritime Academy in one quarterfinal of the MASCAC Tournament on Tuesday night with the winner advancing to face the Rams on Thursday night in Framingham at 7 p.m.

The 2019 Rams were led offensively by junior Grace Gamache (Dartmouth, Mass.) who has tallied 39 goals and a league best 42 assists on the season for a team-best and second best in the MASCAC 81 points, while sophomore Alissa Marino (Trumbull, Conn.) is second in the league with 53 goals and her 12 assists give her 65 points on the season. 

Senior Indigo Fox Tree-McGrath (Bedford, Mass.) has started every game for the Rams in net this season and has a 14-3 record with a 7.92 goals against average. 

The tournament field is rounded out by third seed Westfield State who hosts sixth seed Salem State on Tuesday in the other quarterfinal.  The winner of that contest will advance to face second seed Bridgewater State on Thursday night in the other semifinal.

The two semifinal winners will meet on Saturday at the highest remaining seed in the championship game.  The winner of the championship game receives the MASCAC's automatic bid to the 2019 NCAA Division III Lacrosse Championship.
