Women’s Lacrosse Opens Season with 17-2 Victory over Regis

Weston, Mass. – The Framingham State University women's lacrosse team opened the 2018 season with 12 first half goals as the Rams cruised to a 17-2 victory over Regis College this afternoon at Regis Stadium.

With the victory, the Rams are now 1-0, while the Pride fall to 0-1.

The Rams received four goals and four assists from sophomore Grace Gamache (Dartmouth, Mass.), while freshman attack Alissa Marino (Trumbull, Conn.) added four goals in her first collegiate game.  Freshman Hanna McMahon (Watertown, Mass.) added three goals and an assist, while sophomore Audrey Duhaime (Belchertown, Mass.) chipped in with three assists.

The Rams tallied a pair of goals, one from Duhaime and one from Marino, in the game's opening four minutes to take the lead for good.  The Pride cut the lead in half with just under 24 minutes remaining in the opening stanza before the Rams closed the frame with 10 unanswered goals.  Gamache tallied three markers and three helpers on the spurt, while Marino found the back of the net three more times.

The Rams opened the second half with five unanswered goals before the Pride found the back of the net with just over three minutes remaining in the game to reach the final margin.

Junior Indigo Fox Tree-McGrath (Bedford, Mass.) earned the victory in net for the Rams making eight saves and allowing just the two goals, while Maresa Malcolm took the loss for the Pride recording three saves in a half of work.

The Rams are scheduled to be back in action at home on Saturday afternoon when they entertain Curry at 12 p.m.
