Nashua, NH – The Framingham State University women's lacrosse team opened the 2017 season with a convincing 15-3 victory over Rivier University at Raider Field.

With the win, the Rams are now 1-0 on the season, while the Raiders slip to 0-3 and are still in search of their first victory.

The Rams received four goals and an assist from sophomore Shea Riley (Fairhaven, Mass.), while junior Kimmy Foley (Mansfield, Mass.) tallied three goals with a helper.   Junior Kristen Keenan (Methuen, Mass.) supplied three goals on four shots, while senior Lindsay Nixon (Woburn, Mass.) tallied a pair of markers.

The Rams grabbed a 1-0 lead just under three minutes into the game on freshman Audrey Duhaime's (Belchertown, Mass.) first collegiate goal, but the Raiders answered with a goal of their own 21 seconds later to tie the score.  Foley, Riley and Nixon followed with goals around the ten minute mark of the half to put the Ramd on top for good.  Sally Kennedy cut the Rams lead back to two with just under 14 minutes left in the stanza, but the Rams rattled off seven goals to close the half with an 11-3 advantage.

The Rams outshot the Raiders 43-11 in the game with sophomore Indigo Fox Tree-McGrath earning the victory in net.  Fox Tree-McGrath made five saves en route to her first win of the season, while Courtney Laperriere made 14 stops for the hosts.

The Rams are back on the road next Thursday when they travel to Nichols College for a 7 p.m. contest.
