Women’s Lacrosse Eliminated from MASCAC Tournament with Loss at Worcester State

Worcester, Mass. – The fifth seeded Framingham State University women's lacrosse team was defeated 16-5 by the fourth seeded Worcester State University Lancers this evening in one quarterfinal of the 2015 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Lacrosse Tournament.

With the win, the Lancers improve to 12-5 on the year and advance to the semifinals on Thursday night where they will face top seed Westfield State University. The Rams dip to 9-8 with the loss.

The Rams led 2-0 just over three minutes into the game on goals from senior Zoe Reilly (Boyertown, PA) and junior Stephanie Leonard (Framingham, Mass.). The Lancers tallied a pair of goals to tie the game before Leonard put the Rams on top for the final time (3-2) with a free position shot with 23 minutes on the clock.

The Lancers rattled off six straight goals to take and 8-3 lead before the two teams traded goals over the final five minutes to give the Lancers a 10-5 lead at the half.

The Worcester defense kept the Rams from scoring in the second half, while the tacked on six to reach the final differential.

Reilly and Leonard tallied a pair of goals apiece for the Rams, while Kaila Chase led the Lancers with five goals.

The hosts outshot the Rams 42-17 in the game and held a 33-24 edge in ground balls. Junior Alysha Cericola (Waltham, Mass.) suffered the loss in net for the Rams despite making 15 saves.
