Women's Lacrosse Downs Lasell in Overtime

Framingham, MA - The Framingham State College women's lacrosse team let a big lead slip away at the end of regulation but prevailed with a 15-13 overtime win today at Maple Street Field over the visiting Lasers of Lasell College. With the win, the Rams move closer to the .500 mark at 4-5, while the Lasers slip to 7-6 on the year.

The Rams were once again led by the attack duo of junior Ashley Noonan (Mansfield, MA) and Stephanie Corrales (Framingham, MA).  Noonan led the Rams with a game-high four assists and four goals, while Corrales chipped in three goals including the game winner in overtime and three assists.  Corrales continues to lead the Rams this season with 41 points and Noonan follows closely behind with 40 points on the year.  Freshman midfielder Kerry Kiley (Mansfield, MA) added three goals and an assist, while classmate Lauren McMullen (Bolton, MA) added two goals and Sam Leferriere (Billerica, MA), Melissa Price (Norwood, MA) and Rebecca L'Ecuyer (Lowell, MA) chipped in with a single goal apiece.

The Lasers were led by senior attack Caitlyn Murphy (Katonah, NY) who scored a team-high four goals and two assists.  Tina Canavan (Stonington, CT) and Kendall Barreiro (Ossining, NY) added two goals apiece and Andrea Ward (Hingham, MA), Lexi Giatrelis (Mashpee, MA), Meredith Hessler (Middletown, RI), Chelsea Caren (Redding, CT) and Valentina Hernandez (Jamaica Plain, MA) added single goals.

The Rams opened up a six goal lead late in the first half and were able to main their advantage till late in the second half.  With the Rams leading 12-7 with just under 20 minutes remaining in the game, the Lasers scored five unanswered goals in the final fifteen minutes including two goals in the final minute and a half from Barreiro to tie the game and force overtime. 

The Rams came out and controlled overtime as they outshot the Lasers 5-2 in the extra session.  They took a one goal lead just 2:25 into the extra session as Kiley scored off a feed from Noonan. The Lasers responded and knotted the game at 13-13 just 18 seconds later on Canavan's final tally of the day.  Corrales took control for the Rams and scored two goals 12 seconds apart to secure the win for the Rams.

The Rams return to action on Thursday as they travel MIT for a 5 p.m. game.
