Women's Lacrosse Falls to Western Connecticut

Danbury, CT - Senior co-captain Ashley Caruso (Northport, NY) scored five goals and senior co-captain Caitlin Everin (Glastonbury, CT) scored four as Western Connecticut State University posted its first win of the season by defeating Framingham State 15-5 Thursday afternoon at the WestConn Athletic Complex.

Also scoring for WestConn were junior Whitney Fairchild (New Milford, CT) with three goals, while sophomore Michelle Dombrowski (Hamden, CT), sophomore  Kara Kruczkiewicz (Brookfield, CT), and sophomore Jessica Majeski (Norwalk, CT) each scored one goal for the victorious Colonials.

Framingham State's Stephanie Corrales (Framingham, MA), Kristen Giusti (Hopkinton, MA), Sam Laferriere (Billerica, MA), Caitlin Myers (Weymouth, MA), and Ashley Noonan (Easton, MA) each scored a single goal in a losing effort for the Rams.

WestConn took control early, scoring in the game's first minute when Dombrowski took a pass from Everin and delivered a quick shot to the back of the net.  In the second minute of play, the Colonials struck again when Whitney Fairchild scored an unassisted goal.  When Caruso scored her second goal at the 16:47 mark, WestConn took a commanding 5-0 lead.  Both teams traded goals over the next 15 minutes to make the half-time score 8-3.

WestConn again scored quickly to start the second half with three goals in the first five minutes, two by Everin and one by Kruczkiewicz.  Framingham State scored twice in the second half, but the Colonials scored the game's final three goals to make the final margin of victory 15-5.

Sophomore Angela Vargas (Stonington, CT) earns her first victory of the season in goal for the Colonials, while Allesha Kenyon (Westford, MA) takes the loss for the Rams.

With this afternoon's victory WestConn's record stands at 1-12 (0-4 in the Little East Conference), while Framingham State falls to 3-4.

WestConn hosts Little East Conference rival Rhode Island College on Saturday, April 19th (Senior Day).  Game time is slated for noon, while the Rams host Westfield State at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22nd.
