Women's Lacrosse Drops 19-12 Decision at Nichols

Dudley, MA - Senior Stephanie Tenczar (West Springfield, Mass.) scored eight goals and assisted on another to lead the Nichols women's lacrosse team to a 19-12 victory over Framingham State in non-conference action on Saturday at Vendetti Field. The Bison have now tied the school record for wins as they improve to 4-5 on the season while the Rams fall to 3-2.

Tenczar and Rams' freshman Stephanie Corrales (Framingham, Mass.) traded goals in the opening minutes of the game before the Bison were able to grab a 4-2 lead with back-to-back free position scores. The Rams then scored three straight goals to take a 5-4 lead with 7:41 left in the half. Nichols went on the attack, registering six goals in the matter of three minutes and four seconds, to take back the lead, 10-5. The Rams cut the lead to three with a pair of goals in the final 1:54 of the half.

The Bison increased their lead out to seven with four straight goals in the second half, including two of Tenczar's eight. The Rams got no closer than five goals as Nichols enjoyed a lead of as many as eight the rest of the way.

Senior Jackie Henderson (Portsmouth, R.I.) added four and two assists for the Bison while junior Jessica Porter (Melrose, Mass.) also netted four goals. Junior Sarah Levesque (Ludlow, Mass.) had two goals and one assist and junior Denise Cardello (North Babylon, N.Y.) posted one goal. Sophomore MaryKate Bednarz (Springfield, Mass.) made 15 saves in net for Nichols.

Framingham State was led by Corrales who scored a team-high six goals. Sophomore Ashley Noonan (Easton, Mass.) added three goals as well. Freshman Allesha Kenyon (Westford, Mass.) made 14 saves on the day.

Nichols will be back in action this Monday when they travel to Fitchburg State for a 4 p.m. game, while the Rams host UMass Dartmouth on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
