O’Day and O’Connor Grab MASCAC Weekly Honors

Framingham, Mass.- Framingham State senior Mary Kate O'Day (Berlin, Mass.) has been named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week and freshman Flannery O'Connor (Amesbury, Mass.) was selected as Rookie of the Week for the week ending March 1st.

O'Day averaged 24 points, 9.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, two steals while shooting 44.1 percent (15-34) from the field to lead the Rams their first MASCAC Tournament Championship. She netted 21 points, 11 rebounds, five assists and four steals in the 92-59 semifinal win over Bridgewater State then added 27 points, eight rebounds, two assists and a block in the 66-51 championship game victory over Worcester State to earn Tournament MVP accolades.

O'Connor averaged 17 points, 12 boards, 4.5 assists and 1.5 blocks in a 2-0 week for the Rams that ended with the program's first ever MASCAC Tournament Championship. She scored 22 points, going 8-for-10 from the line with 13 boards, six assists, two blocks and a steal in the 92-59 semifinal win over Bridgewater State. She added 12 points with 11 boards, three assists and a block in the 66-51 championship game victory. This is tenth time this season and fifth consecutive week O'Connor has been named MASCAC Rookie of the Week.
