O’Day Named MASCAC Player of the Year; Paschal Coach of the Year & Three Named All-MASCAC

Framingham, Mass. – Framingham State sophomore guard Mary Kate O'Day (Berlin, Mass.) has been named the 2017-18 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Basketball Player of the Year, Rams' head coach Walter Paschal has been honored as the Champion's Choice Coach of the Year and O'Day, senior Raegan Mulherin (Baldwinville, Mass.) and junior Tiphani Harris (Revere, Mass.) have been named to the All-MASCAC teams.

O'Day finished the season first in the conference in points per game with 18.5 and total points with 462 while also netting the fourth-best three-point percentage at 34.6 and fifth-best free throw percentage at 79.6. O'Day also tallied 161 total rebounds, including 127 defensive plus 57 assists, 30 steals and 13 blocks on the year. Her season-high for points came against Fitchburg State where she scored a career-high 39 points.

Mulherin was named first team all- conference after finishing second in points per game (16.1) and total points (418) in her senior campaign. Mulherin finished second in the MASCAC in free-throw percentage at 86.6 and second in steals with 70. Mulherin finishes her career with 1,245 points in her three years at Framingham, which places her third on the Rams all-time scoring list.

Harris was a second team honoree after averaging a double-double of 10.9 points and 10.2 rebounds per game in 2017-18. She finished the season leading the league in total rebounding with 266 and 10.9 boards per game. Harris was fifth in the conference in field goal percentage at 46.2.

Paschal was honored at the Champion's Choice Coach of the Year by his colleagues after he led his squad to a 16-10 record and 9-3 mark in conference play earning the second seed in the MASCAC Tournament and third-straight title game appearance. Paschal, the all-time winningest coach in program history improves his record to 90-43 with the Rams and 290- 207 including his 14 seasons at Fitchburg.
