Women’s Basketball Chosen as a Preseason Favorite in the MASCAC

Framingham, Mass.- The Framingham State women's basketball team, along with Westfield State, have been chosen as the top teams in the 2017-18 MASCAC preseason poll as voted on by the seven coaches around the league.

The Rams earned a top spot by way of 31 points and two first place votes. The Rams come off a record 2016-17 season where they set the program record in wins with 19 and were 10-2 during conference play reaching the MASCAC Championship Game for the third time in four seasons.

Returning for Framingham State is senior all-conference guard Raegan Mulherin (Baldwinville, Mass.) who netted 13.5 points per game, including a 37.8 three-point percentage with 103 rebounds, 80 assists and 59 steals last season.

Westfield State, the 2016-17 MASCAC Regular Season and Tournament Champions received three first place votes for 31 points. The Owls were 11-1 during MASCAC action last season.

Bridgewater State is next in third with a first place vote for 27 points. Coming in fourth is Worcester State with 20 points. The Lancers had an 8-4 mark during MASCAC play in 2016-17.

Sitting in fifth with 14 points is Fitchburg State and rounding out the preseason poll are MCLA and Salem State in sixth and seventh, respectively.

The Rams open the 2017-18 campaign on Wednesday, November 15th when they host Curry at 6pm.
