Women's Basketball Earns Second Seed in 2016 MASCAC Tournament

Framingham, Mass. – The Framingham State University women's basketball team has earned the second seed and a first-round bye in this week's Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Basketball Tournament.    

The Rams closed the regular season with an overall record of 18-6 and 10-2 clip in MASCAC play finishing second in the conference standings. The Rams will host the semi-final game at 6:00 pm on Thursday, February 25th. Framingham will play the winner of the Bridgewater State vs. Worcester State first-round game being played on Tuesday at 5:30pm.

The Rams were led this season by junior Alycia Rackliffe (Feeding Hills, Mass.) and sophomore Reagan Mulherin (Baldwinville, Mass.). Rackliffe led the conference in total rebounds (261), rebounds per game (10.9) and blocks (85) while also tallying 12.4 points per game. Mulherin led the league in points per game (18.1) and was second in total points (435) at the end of the regular season.  

Westfield State earned the top-seed and other first-round bye. They will host the winner of the other first-round game between MCLA and Salem State on Thursday at 7pm.

The two semifinal winners will meet on Saturday at the highest remaining seed in the championship game. The winner of the championship game receives the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
