Women's Basketball Rolls to 83-59 Win over MCLA

North Adams, Mass.- The visiting Framingham State University Rams placed four players in double figures as they handled the MCLA Trailblazers 83-59 this evening in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) women's basketball contest. 

With the win, the Rams improve to 10-5 overall and move to 3-2 in MASCAC play.  The Trailblazers dropped their fifth straight game in falling to 8-9 overall, 0-4 in conference play.

Senior guard Madeleine Park (Blue Hill, ME) led Framingham with game-highs of 21 points and nine rebounds.  Junior guard Kristen Hoffman (Foxboro, Mass.) was outstanding collecting 20 points, six assists, and five steals.  Other Rams in double figures included senior forward Kia Minor (Edgartown, Mass.) with 12 points and sophomore Samantha Irvine (Franklin, Mass.) with 10.  

Framingham started quickly as they scored the opening eight points of the game before MCLA got on the board.  After the Trailblazers Lucy Tremblay converted a three point to make it 13-7 in favor of Framingham, the Rams used a 12-2 run ignited by a Hoffman layup and a Park three pointer to take a 25-9 advantage, their largest of the half.  

MCLA would outscore Framingham 16-8 over the next six minutes to cut the margin to 33-25 , however Framingham would score the final six points of the half to take a 39-25 lead at the break.  

The Rams would not let up in the second half.  With the score at 43-29 early in the half, the Rams went on an 8-0 run led by Park and Hoffman, who tallied all eight points.  The lead grew to as many as 28 points at 68-40 before settling on the final score.

Framingham controlled the glass all night long owning a commanding 55-30 edge in rebounds, including 18 offensive boards.  They overcame 27 turnovers to earn the win, aided by 50% shooting on the night.

MCLA was led by Tremblay's team-best 17 points, however, she was just 5-21 from the floor.  Danielle Scolpino added 14 points, and Kait Chenevert chipped in with 13.

The Trailblazers shot just 32% from the floor and committed 20 turnovers.

MCLA will return to action on Saturday looking to rebound against Fitchburg State at 1p.m., while the Rams travel to Westfield State on Saturday also at 1 p.m.
