Women's Basketball Edges Lasell 57-52

Newton, Mass. - Freshman forward Kia Minor (Oak Bluffs, Mass.) scored a game-high 15 points on six of 12 from the field to lift the Framingham State College women's basketball team to a 57-52 non-conference win tonight over the Lasell College Lasers.  With the win, the Rams improve to 5-6 on the season, while the loss drops the Lasers to 4-9 on the season.

Lasell held a slim lead, 15-9, which was also their largest lead of the game, over the Rams with 6:09 remaining in the first half.  The Rams fought back and closed the first half on a 17-4 run giving them a 26-19 lead at the half. 

In the second half, the Rams maintained their lead until late in the game.  The Lasers took their first lead of the second half, 48-47, and their first lead since the 6:09 mark of the first half on a layup from Kim Archibald (Lewiston, ME) with 4:39 remaining.

The Rams once again responded with a 10-4 run of their own to close the game.  Minor and junior Nikki McConaghy (Medford, Mass.) were a combined four of four from the line in the final minute to seal the 57-52 win for the Rams.

Sophomore Emily Clark (Melrose, Mass.) also finished in double figures for the Rams with 11 points, seven rebounds and three blocks.  Senior Toya Chester (Ayer, Mass.) struggled from the floor but picked up a game-high 12 boards and five assists.

The Lasers were led by Archibald and Kelsey Converse (Laconia, NH) who scored 10 points apiece.

The Rams return to action on Saturday as they return to conference play when they host Worcester State at 3 p.m.
